Matchbooks, matchboxes, or jars: choosing your format
Compare how each format fits your setting, artwork, packaging, and intended use.

The best starting point is the setting, not the decoration. Think about where the matches will live, how they will be handed out, and what else they need to fit beside. A format that makes sense in a welcome bag may be different from the one you want on a retail shelf.
Start with the placement.
List the actual touchpoints: a host stand, a guest-room tray, a favor table, a candle set, or a gift box. Measure any packaging or display the product must fit. A photo of the intended placement is useful context when you request options.
Compare the formats.
| Matchbooks | A compact folding presentation for a logo, monogram, or short message. |
|---|---|
| Matchboxes | A sliding package that can be explored for additional artwork surfaces and gift presentation. |
| Long matches | An elongated format to consider with candle, home-fragrance, and hospitality concepts. |
| Colored tips | A way to bring available match-head shades into the overall packaging palette. |
| Jars & cloches | A vessel-based display concept where the container and visible contents are part of the design. |
| Cigar matches | A use-specific project that requires confirmation of materials, dimensions, formulation, and suitability. |
Give your artwork enough room.
A logo can look very different at the scale of a matchbook. Decide what has to be readable: the business name, a monogram, a web address, a date, or a short line. Put the most important element first and ask for the actual printable-area information before preparing a final layout.
Look at the complete presentation.
Decoration is only one part of the decision. Ask about the packaging material, available finish, match details, striker location, packing, and any product documentation your venue needs. Use concept images to communicate a direction, then confirm the exact configuration in writing.
Compare complete quotes.
A useful comparison includes the same quantity, artwork versions, decoration, packing, delivery location, and approval requirements. If one option leaves something out, resolve that difference before treating the totals as directly comparable.
You do not need every answer before you contact us. A clear description of the intended use, an approximate quantity, and the delivery destination are enough to start checking suitable options.
